Toshitsugu Takamatsu Sensei (1887-1972): Takamatsu Sensei was considered the last true Ninja. Takamatsu Sensei was born in a family with roots both in Ninja, and Samurai classes. As a child he was instructed in several ryu's, becoming the only person to have completed training in all aspects of Ninjutsu. For most of his life he was the only person fully trained in Ninjutsu. Upon returning to his village he took Dr. Yoshiaki Hatsumi (Masaaki) as a student. After fifteen years of instructing Dr. Hatsumi, Takamatsu Sensei declared him his heir (Soke) in the art of Ninjutsu.

Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi 34th Soke, born December 2, 1931: Dr. Hatsumi Soke is an accomplished martial artist, doctor, writer, actor, and artist. Dr. Hatsumi Soke graduated from Meji University of Meedicine in Tokyo, as a Hone-tsugi (Orthopedic Doctor). He is also a practitioner of the ancient Japanese medical techniques of Seikotsu (natural healing methods). Dr. Hatsumi is an accomplished artist of brush and ink in Nihonga style. With art work that has been exhibited in Tokyo, and France. Dr. Hatsumi has written and continues to write numerous books on martial arts. He has been training in the martial arts since he was approximately five years old, and as the inheritor/Soke of the the ryus passed on to him by Takamatsu Sensei. Dr. Hatsumi is the person who has created the evolution of the art into modern day Bujinkan / Budo Taijutsu. Dr. Hatsumi Soke is considered by many as the last true Grandmaster in the Martial Arts.
